Since 2007, Alix Refshauge has been Director of HUB-BUB’s Artists-in-Residence program, but she will soon leave Spartanburg for the next phase of her life. An exhibit that features her artwork spanning more than a decade will run from Feb. 15 to March 11 at the Showroom.
The opening reception celebrating the artist and art will be Feb. 17 from 7-9 p.m. in the Showroom. Admission is free, and beverages and hors d’oeuvres will be available.
A native of Spartanburg, Alix studied studio art at Furman University. Her post-college career included working for Christies Auction House with 19th C. European Furniture, working for Burton Snowboards as a traveling/snowboarding nanny, a summer in Denali, Alaska, as a hotel housekeeper and dishwasher, a couple of years in Spartanburg as a faux finisher/painter, and getting an MPA in Arts Management in Charleston, SC.
Alix’s vivid paintings reflect these experiences and surroundings, from foreign lands that she has visited to the kitchen sink in her own home.
Please make plans to attend this reception and wish one of HUB-BUB and Spartanburg’s own farewell.
